Jiangxi: EAF-based Steelmaking Capacity to Increase to 4.6 Million Tons by 2026

Recently, the General Office of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee and the General Office of the People's Government of Jiangxi Province issued the "Three-Year Action Plan for Jiangxi Province to Build a National Ecological Civilization Highland (2024-2026)", which mentioned that by 2026, the proportion of strategic emerging industries in the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size will reach more than 29%, the operating income of the new energy industry chain will strive to reach 700 billion yuan, and the recycling volume of 9 types of renewable resources such as scrap steel and scrap copper will strive to reach 46 million tons.

It will fully implement the carbon peak implementation plan for the industrial field and key industries such as steel, building materials, petrochemicals, and non-ferrous metals, and promote the coordinated efficiency of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the entire industrial chain. It will orderly develop EAF-based steelmaking and increase the EAF-based steelmaking capacity to 4.6 million tons in 2026, and support the coupled development of non-ferrous metals, petrochemicals, building materials, electronic information, new energy and other industries. It will promote energy-saving and carbon-reduction transformation in key areas, and resolutely curb the blind development of "high consumption of energy, heavy pollution and low technology" projects.
